Finance Officer Part Time NEW

BYA, is the leading local youth mental health service in the Warren Blackwood region. Over the past few years, we have experienced significant growth with locations in Bridgetown, Boyup Brook and Manjimup. This newly created role is designed to bring financial support in house to assist with the increasing finanical activities at BYA.  This is a part-time role with 8 to 10 hours a week. The role is classified as a Level 4 under the SCHADS Award, pay point 1. At least 5 years of experience in a Financial Officer or similar role required.

Key Duties and Accountabilities

As a Financial Officer your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Payroll Tasks

• Process fortnightly payroll from end to end, including timesheets, leave, allowances, deductions and superannuation, and submit each pay run to the CEO for final approval.
• Process leave requests and maintain accurate leave balances and employee payroll records.
• Ensure payroll is processed in line with applicable industrial instruments.
• Identify and escalate payroll queries and issues to the CEO for resolution.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

• Process supplier invoices and payments accurately and within agreed terms, ensuring appropriate approvals and supporting documentation are in place.
• Prepare and issue invoices, record receipts and follow up outstanding debts.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

Reconciliations, Reporting and Budgeting

• Complete regular bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare and post monthly accrual journals as part of month end processes.
• Run and prepare financial reports as required by the CEO.
• Assist the CEO with the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
• Prepare grant acquittals

Selection Criteria and Essential Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Licenses & Clearances:

• Minimum Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent; a degree in accounting, finance or commerce is desirable
• Valid Police Clearance
• Working with Children Check
• Driver’s License

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Financial Officer or similar role.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a small team and autonomously.
• Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and payroll.
• Experience with Xero accounting information systems, payroll systems, client management systems, Microsoft suite, and other IT systems.
