BYA is the leading provider of youth mental health services and support to at-risk young people across social, emotional, educational, and psychological domains in the Warren Blackwood region. BYA is currently seeking applications from people with relevant qualifications, knowledge, and experience, who are enthusiastic about working with young people in the Warren region of WA’s southwest. The position will be based in Manjimup with a requirement to travel to other towns in the region. It is a full time position in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award.
Our Youth Case Manager/Worker role blends traditional youth work with case management responsibilities and will suit someone who has some experience in both areas of work.
To be considered for this position it is essential that you have:
a strong background and/or relevant qualifications in at least one of the following disciplines – youth work, youth development, case management, community work/services, or social work (essential)
minimum of 2 years experience (or equivalent) in youth work and/or case management (essential) working with vulnerable young people and in particular at-risk and marginalised young people
proven ability to engage with young people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds (essential)
experience networking with multi-disciplinary services and agencies
well-developed problem-solving skills, interpersonal and mentoring skills including strong verbal and written communication skills
a current driver’s licence (essential)
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
conducting initial intakes and assessments
working closely with the client to develop case plans that include ongoing support, review, and follow up
referring clients to appropriate external services
providing crisis intervention where appropriate
supporting and assisting clients in a way that promotes independence and empowerment and autonomy
advocating on behalf of the clients where required, and supervising client activities
maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records and case notes
