Full Time Position

About the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Chemist, this position will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of analytical services provided to the Greenbushes Lithium Operation, encompassing the site, mine, and associated facilities. The role involves close collaboration with maintenance teams to support laboratory equipment and infrastructure, as well as timely communication of any technical issues or equipment failures to the Senior Chemist.

This role is a 7 & 7 roster, with Drive-In, Drive-Out (DIDO) options available. Comfortable camp accommodation is provided at our newly built onsite facility.

You’ll be supporting a busy geochemical laboratory while also contributing to the selection, installation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support of new instrumentation. A strong focus will be placed on expanding capacity and improving quality systems, with key areas including:

• Sample preparation and robotics
• XRF, ICP-OES, AAS, and water chemistry
• Sizing analysis, TOC, and LIMS

Responsibilities include:

• promoting and contributing to safe laboratory operations by identifying and implementing safety improvements;
• supporting the maintenance and enhancement of laboratory quality systems;
• conducting safety and quality audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement;
• developing and documenting laboratory procedures to support consistent and accurate practices;
• performing non-routine analytical testing as required;
• providing technical support and guidance to laboratory staff;
• monitoring laboratory equipment performance and assisting with maintenance activities;
• troubleshooting technical issues and implementing effective corrective actions;
• identifying opportunities to improve analytical methods and instrumentation; and
• assisting with the installation, commissioning, and calibration of laboratory equipment.

About the Candidate:

• tertiary qualification or degree in Chemistry;
• minimum two (2) years of technical experience, ideally within mineral analysis laboratories;
• demonstrated experience with a range of laboratory instrumentation, including operation and troubleshooting;
• comprehensive knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and standards;
• familiarity with laboratory quality systems and procedures;
• strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment; and
• high level of computer literacy and confidence using technical software.
