Workshop Operations Manager Full Time

Southern Forest Machinery is on an exciting growth journey, we are looking for a motivated Workshop Operations Manager to oversee our busy workshop and mobile servicing team. This role has been created as we continue to invest in our people, expand our capabilities, and prepare for our biggest year yet in 2026 and beyond.

About the Role

This is a hands on leadership position, responsible for overseeing all aspects of our workshop and mobile service operations. You’ll lead a talented team of mechanics, coordinate service work across a large customer base, and work closely with our Parts Manager to ensure smooth processes and high standards across the board.

No two days will be the same, from scheduling routine services to troubleshooting complex mechanical issues alongside our team, you’ll be central to ensuring our customers receive reliable, efficient, and professional workshop service every time.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership – Inspire and manage a skilled team of workshop and mobile service mechanics.
Job Scheduling & Coordination – Plan and prioritise jobs, monitor progress, and work collaboratively with the Parts team to ensure timely completion.
Customer Communication – Be the main point of contact for customers, keeping them informed and ensuring clear approvals and expectations for all workshop jobs.
Administration & Reporting – Create job cards, oversee service parts ordering, finalise invoicing, and ensure all records are accurate and completed on time.
Quality & Standards – Uphold service excellence, resolve issues, and continuously improve processes.
Operational Oversight – Ensure safety, compliance, and efficient operations in the workshop and in the field.

Skills & Experience

Strong mechanical knowledge or experience in a workshop/mechanical environment.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Organisational ability to manage multiple priorities in a high demand environment.
