About the Role
Bannister Downs Dairy Farm is looking for an experienced Lead Machinery Operator to join our senior farm team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading people, managing farm machinery operations, and contributing to the success of a values-based, innovative farming enterprise.
You’ll be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing machinery-related activities across the farm – including forage harvesting, feed delivery, pasture and land management, and infrastructure projects. You’ll also mentor and lead a team of operators and contractors, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coach the machinery operations team and contractors.
Coordinate and execute machinery programs for forage and feed delivery, seeding, spraying, harvesting, and pasture management.
Implement and uphold high safety standards across all equipment use and tasks.
Oversee preventative maintenance and ensure compliance with all operational and legislative requirements.
Foster a culture of performance, teamwork, and professional development.
Collaborate closely with farm leadership on planning and resource optimisation.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior agricultural machinery operations role
HR Truck Licence (essential)
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage people and machinery
Sound knowledge of large-scale farm machinery (headers, spreaders, mixers, etc.)
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Forklift licence, WHS training and ag qualifications (desirable)
