Manjimup Avocado Orchard Leading Hand Full Time

The Carpenters Beedelup team require a permanent Full-time Leading Hand to assist with our avocado project near Manjimup, WA. We are seeking an experienced Leading Hand with a mechanical background / knowledge to join our dedicated team. This position will be working closely with the Orchard Manager and assist with the coordination and operation of our horticultural development.

Responsibilities include:

·         General orchard maintenance e.g. basic vehicle maintenance, irrigation repairs, fencing, buildings, mowing

·         Supervising and task assigning seasonal / casual work crews

·         Application – weed spray / airblast spray / fertiliser spreading

·         Fertiliser tank mixing

·         Irrigation scheduling using MAIT and fault assessment

·         Tree husbandry & maintenance, including tipping, pruning and picking

·         Tractor operations – tilling, mulching, spreading etc

·         Computerised data entry and record keeping

·         WHS understanding and commitment

Does this sound like you?

·         A passion for horticulture and experience in a farm environment

·         Tractor operation experience

·         Strong work ethic and team-orientated

·         Hands on, dynamic and adaptable

·         Hold a current Australian driver’s licence

A Forklift licence and First aid certificate are desirable, however we are willing to train the right person.
