Two established orchards. A practical leadership role. Room to make your mark.
Our client is a privately owned avocado producer operating two properties in Western Australia’s South West. With a focus on quality production and continual improvement, the business is looking for an operational leader who can organise the work, guide the team and keep orchard activities running smoothly.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being involved on the ground, brings structure to busy seasonal workloads and takes pride in what their team delivers.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, you will oversee daily operations across both orchards. Your focus will be on planning work, coordinating Leading Hands and seasonal staff, and ensuring orchard programs are delivered effectively.
You will stay close to day-to-day activities while keeping upcoming seasonal priorities and production requirements in view.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and coordinating daily and seasonal work across both properties.
Leading the team; setting clear priorities and expectations.
Organise spraying, pruning, irrigation, crop care and harvest activities.
Monitoring progress and adjusting work plans as seasonal demands change.
Overseeing the delivery of crop nutrition, irrigation and monitoring programs.
Maintaining quality assurance systems and operational records.
Utilising production and cost information to improve efficiency and orchard performance.
About You
You know how to organise a team, keep work moving and follow through.
You will bring practical experience in commercial horticulture, orchards or permanent tree crops, together with the confidence to lead people and coordinate competing priorities. You enjoy working alongside your team and can move between planning the week ahead and resolving an issue in the orchard.
We are looking for:
Experience coordinating operations in commercial horticulture, orchards or permanent tree crops.
The ability to lead staff, communicate expectations and maintain accountability.
Strong planning skills across daily workloads and seasonal programs.
Practical knowledge of irrigation systems and routine crop management activities.
The ability to interpret production and cost information to guide decisions.
A hands-on approach and the confidence to work independently.
Avocado production experience will be highly regarded, along with orchard redevelopment experience and practical machinery knowledge.
The Benefits
Take ownership of a varied operational role where your leadership will influence how the orchards run and what the team achieves.
Based in Pemberton, in Western Australia’s South West, this permanent, full-time position offers a regional lifestyle surrounded by forests, farmland and the region’s food and wine attractions.
