The Calf Rearer, reporting to the Lead Calf Rearer, is responsible for the calf rearing areas ensuring our animals are provided with the best possible nutrition, environment, and care.
We are looking for a person who is very reliable and honest, has a good sense of care and responsibility towards people, animals, equipment, and behaves with awareness of safety at all times. It is essential to have the ability to work in a small team in a respectful and positive manner. You must be able to listen to instructions and follow procedures.
You will need to be reasonably fit as this role is physically demanding and does involve lifting and manual handing.
You must be able to work as an individual and be willing to work weekends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Feeding and caring for calves to ensure optimal health and nutrition
Monitoring calf wellbeing and reporting any concerns
Assisting with treatment and rehabilitation programs for young stock
Maintaining high hygiene and biosecurity standards
Cleaning and disinfecting feeding equipment and calf sheds
Monitoring water systems and assisting with basic maintenance
Managing inventory and supplies for calf care
Safely handling and transporting calves when required
Supporting a safe and positive workplace culture
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Passionate about animal welfare and husbandry
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
Empathetic and calm around animals
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Flexible and proactive with a positive attitude
A manual driver’s licence is essential, and previous experience working on a farm is essential.
Desirable Qualifications
Certificate III in Agriculture
Bachelor of Agricultural Business
