Bannister Downs Dairy is seeking a hands-on and capable Maintenance Lead (Production) to take ownership of preventative and corrective maintenance across our creamery site in Northcliffe.
This is a key role focused on keeping our production equipment, utilities, and systems running safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will lead maintenance planning, respond to operational issues, improve maintenance systems, and help build a robust site maintenance program that supports the ongoing growth of the business.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the creamery site, including:
Site services such as backup energy systems, boiler system, glycol system, water treatment plant, and air compressors
CIP system
Processing equipment
Filling, packing, and palletising equipment
Sundry equipment across the creamery
You will take the lead in planning and coordinating preventative maintenance, processing maintenance requests, managing spare parts, improving maintenance records, and supporting operational problem-solving.
This role also includes practical hands-on work, including ad hoc repairs and upkeep of fixtures, fittings, and machinery.
Key responsibilities
Lead and coordinate a routine and systematic preventative maintenance program
Review existing maintenance schedules and contractor tasks to optimise performance and spend
Manage production maintenance requests, including prioritisation, scheduling, communication, and record keeping
Coordinate maintenance work to minimise disruption to production
Establish and maintain an effective spare parts replenishment system
Improve maintenance records and implement systems to monitor and alert for preventative maintenance
Support production teams with problem-solving and issue resolution
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment
Carry out hands-on maintenance and repair tasks as required
About you
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar senior maintenance role or relevant industry
Strong practical aptitude and the ability to adapt to new systems and equipment
Experience with maintenance planning and documentation
Clear and consistent reporting skills
A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Good communication skills and attention to detail
Strong organisation, reliability, and time management
A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to contribute to a culture of respect and responsibility
A current C Class Driver’s Licence
