This role is entry-level friendly with on-the-job training for the right candidate.
The Position
The Shire of Manjimup is seeking either a highly efficient and qualified individual to take on the role of Ranger, or a motivated person willing to undertake the necessary training to commence in an entry-level Ranger position within the Ranger and Emergency Services Department. This role is responsible for, but not limited to:
Carry out Council’s legislative Ranger responsibilities in relation to the Dog Act, Cat Act, Bush Fires Act, Litter Act, and Local Government Act including relevant Regulations, Local Laws and Council Policies;
Provide Council, employees, Government Departments and general public effective and accurate decisions;
Join a rotating roster, including weekend shifts and assist with call outs as required.
Develop and coordinate programs to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Ranger services delivered on behalf of Council.
Ranger (Qualified) – Full-Time, $76,340 per annum (plus entitlements)
Selection Criteria
Strong verbal and written communication, time management and organisation skills.
Strong public relations skills including negotiating to achieve favourable outcomes.
Demonstrated experience in handling an array of animals
Ability to undertake physical work including lifting.
Working knowledge of the Litter Act, Dog Act, Cat Act, Local Government Act and subsidiary legislation necessary to enforce compliance.
Operational and administrative experience with Local Government Ranger functions.
Qualifications/relevant training in Local Government Ranger, and Bushfire Management.
Hold a current “C” class drivers licence. A “HR” licence is desirable.
Working knowledge of Fire Control Officer duties, responsibilities and conduct (Desirable).
Ranger (Entry Level) – Full-Time, $64,091 – $70,004 per annum based on qualification and experience
Selection Criteria
Good verbal and written communication skills, time management and organisation skills.
Good public relations skills including negotiating to achieve favourable outcomes.
Ability to undertake physical work including lifting.
An interest in animal management, law enforcement and safety.
A willingness to undertake the necessary training in the Ranger field.
Hold a current “C” class drivers licence.
Knowledge of Local Government Ranger Services (Desirable).
Knowledge of the Litter Act, Dog Act, Cat Act, Local Government Act and subsidiary legislation necessary to enforce compliance, relevant Local Laws and Council Policies (Desirable).
Basic Bush Fire training (Desirable).
